It’s that time of year again! With the changes in the seasons, it’s important to give your home a little TLC, especially before winter comes along. Check out our list of maintenance tips to get your home in tip-top shape before the cold weather takes over!

Get the Gunk Out of Your Gutters

After all the leaves have fallen, take the time to clean out your gutters and downspouts. This is super important to prevent water from pooling, which can cause damage to your roof or siding.

Prune Your Plants

Late fall is the best time to trim back your trees and plants, as they’ve stopped growing from the summer cycle. This maintenance helps prevent damage to your home’s exteriors from high winds or dripping water, so don’t wait until it’s too cold!

Deep Clean the Kitchen

Take some time to tackle some of the labor-intensive cleaning tasks to keep your kitchen working well and looking great! Scrub tile grout, clean light fixtures, clean the oven, and do more of the difficult cleaning tasks to keep things running smoothly.

Drain Your Irrigation System

Come spring time, you’ll need your sprinklers up and running, and there’s nothing worse than a busted irrigation system from freezing! To prevent freezing, shut off water to the system at the main valve, open drain valves to remove water from the system, and shake the water out of any sprinkler heads.

Cover the Cracks

When the weather gets cooler, critters are much more likely to make your home theirs, which no one wants! Ensure there are no holes or gaps in your home for even tiny critters to enter. Seal up small gaps between trim and siding and around windows and door frames to keep cool air out as well!
